GRAND HAVEN, Mich.—The Michigan Rubber Group hosted 27 people for its 36th annual Michigan Rubber Group salmon fishing outing, held last month in Lake Michigan.
The group chartered six boats for the day. Walt Rosnosky of Great Lakes Rubber caught a 34-inch steelhead, which qualified for the Michigan Angler Register, and Pete Roeller of Hutchinson Automotive won the biggest fish award with a 14.5-pound Chinook salmon
Three different kinds of fish were caught during the outing: steelhead, Chinook salmon and lake trout, totaling almost 400 pounds.
The Michigan Rubber Group uses proceeds from the fishing outing for a variety of purposes, including primarily the funding of scholarships, MRG technical meeting attendance and Rubber Division Expo attendance for students from the Ferris State University Rubber Technology Program.
The continued success of the outings will help to create an annual scholarship from the Michigan Rubber Group to someone already in the rubber industry. Details will be announced at a later date.
