MUNICH—Wacker A.G. has been named Bosch Group's preferred supplier in the elastomers and thermosetting plastics materials group.
Wacker said it scored top marks in the categories of quality, logistics, innovation and strategic collaboration as a preferred supplier.
Bosch assigned its preferred supplier status to the best of its 4,000 suppliers in its subassemblies and materials groups once a year, Wacker said. The firms have been collaborating closely in automotive electronics and household appliances for more than 30 years.
Wacker said it supplies more than 100 different silicone products to Bosch, including adhesives, sealants, silicone rubber grades and specialty silicone gels for potting electronic components.
Wacker is a worldwide chemical group headquartered in Munich. The group reported sales of about $5.91 billion with about 16,000 employees in 2013.
The firm operates 25 production sites worldwide and supplies more than 3,500 products to more than 3,500 customers in more than 100 countries.
Wacker Silicones, a business unit of Wacker, accounted for about 37 percent of the group's sales. Its product portfolio ranges from silicone fluids, emulsions, resins, elastomers and sealants to silanes, silane-terminated polymers and pyrogenic silica. The unit serves the construction, chemicals, cosmetics, textiles, automotive, paper, electronics and medical engineering markets.
