Everkem Diversified Products has introduced TruSil 100 silicone sealant to its Seal Tite brand of sealants and adhesives.

Everken said TruSil 100 derives its name from its 100 percent silicone formulation, which gives it greater adhesion, less shrinkage, higher temperature resistance and lower temperature application and overall increased performance over extended silicone formulations, Everkem said

TruSil comes in a redesigned caulk tube featuring a screw on nozzle, Everkem said, which allows for easy cleaning, storage and reuse after the product has been opened. The added removable tip helps reduce waste and costs by limiting open product's exposure to air and moisture between uses.

TruSil 100 is available in various colors and has mildew resistant options. TruSil 100 is NSF-51 certified, ensuring it does not cause food borne illnesses when coming into contact with food and/or beverages.

TruSil 100 meets ASTM-C920 performance criteria, remains flexible at temperatures as low as -55°F (-48.3°C) and can withstand continuous exposure to temperatures up to 400°F (204.4°C), all while meeting low volatile organic compounds requirements, the company claimed.

Dow Corning Corp. said that its TPSiV 4000 and TPSiV 4200 thermoplastic elastomers have been shown to be safe for skin contact applications in two independent medical test protocols.

The results offer strong independent validation that these materials are an excellent option for skin-safe wearable electronics applications, Dow Corning said, such as wrist bands for smart watches and fitness trackers, as well as for device accessories such as earbuds.

In vivo testing, performed in accordance with the U.S. Pharmacopeia's General Chapter, Biological Reactivity protocol, confirmed that TPSiV 4000 and TPSiV 4200 elastomers both lack cytotoxic potential and show no potential for systemic toxicity and skin irritation.

This indicates both products are safe for long-term skin contact, an important criteria for materials targeting the fast-growing market for wearable electronics.

A unique hybrid of thermoplastic polyurethane and crosslinked silicone rubber, TPSiV materials combine the durability, abrasion resistance and overmolding options of TPUs, Dow Corning said, with the softness and resistance to ultraviolet light and chemicals offered by silicone technology. TPSiV elastomers can be color-matched precisely to customer specifications and maintain their excellent, long-lasting aesthetics even for the most demanding wearable device applications, Dow Corning said. Wearable device manufactures can take advantage of TPSiV elastomers' flexibility and soft feel to increase comfort for consumers, the company claimed.

So.F.Ter. Group's TPE for extrusion suitable for contact with drinking water.

So.F.Ter. Group unveiled a TPE for extrusion suitable for contact with drinking water according to the WRAS (BS 6920) norms. The Laprene 830.556 is a plasticizer-free compound characterized by high transparency and excellent flexibility.

So.F.Ter. said the Laprene 830.556 has a smooth, slippery surface that favors the flow of dirt and impurities that may be present in the pipes, thus it provides an excellent antibacterial protection that inhibits the growth of biofilms and bacteria.

Laprene 830.556, available in the injection-molding version, has passed the stringent tests of the WRAS (BS 6920) norm and can be used for the production of flexible tubes for dishwasher or water dispensers, or in the faucet and plumbing sector, the company said.

So.F.Ter. said Laprene 830.556 is suitable for adhesion on polypropylene.
