TROY, Mich.—Automotive belt and pulley supplier Dayco Products L.L.C. named John Bohenick as its new CEO, effective Sept. 2.
Bohenick will replace James Orchard in the position, the supplier said today in a statement. Orchard will serve as a special adviser to the board through Dec. 31. Bohenick was also appointed to the company's board of managers.
Prior to joining Dayco in suburban Detroit, Bohenick served as president of SKF Sealing Solutions in Elgin, Ill. for Swedish bearing supplier AB SKF.
He also served as president of his own consulting firm, Bohenick L.L.C. Prior to that, Bohenick spent 20 years at Denver-based transmission and fluid delivery systems supplier Gates Corp., most recently as its president.
In September 2013, Dayco acquired bankrupt automotive damper manufacturer Metavation L.L.C. and assets from Eptec S.A. de C.V. Dayco, the stalking horse bidder in a bankruptcy auction process, acquired the assets for $25.1 million, according to a filing in bankruptcy court.
The deal provides Dayco with Metavation's office space in suburban Detroit, its research and development center in Hillsdale, Mich., and three plants in Michigan. It also acquired Eptec's damper operation in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, as part of the bid.
Also last year, Dayco acquired the Nytron Group, a Brazilian-based manufacturer of drive belt and timing tensioners, pulleys and hydraulic actuators for the automotive aftermarket.
