AKRON—Myers Industries Inc. named Todd Smith as vice president, general manager of Akro-Mils, a core Material Handling business for the company.
The firm appointed Alex Williamson to assume Smith's previous position as vice president, general manager of Myers' distribution segment.
Smith brings a background in lean manufacturing, Myers said. He joined Myers in 2007 after serving as operations manager for Goodyear.
The firm said Smith will focus on executing Akro-Mils and Jamco Products' strategic initiatives to profitably grow storage and safety products business. He will also focus on driving manufacturing efficiencies and global sourcing initiatives.
Under Smith's leadership, the distribution segment successfully streamlined its U.S. operations from more than 30 branch locations to four strategically located distribution centers, Myers said, resulting in reduced shipping costs and improved customer order fulfillment.
Williamson was co-president of Seaman Corp. prior to joining Myers. He also held senior leadership positions at Noveon Inc. (now Lubrizol) and brings more than 24 years of experience in business management with a background in marketing, sales, chemistry and product engineering.
Myers said Williamson will be focused on the strategic growth of the Myers Distribution Segment, which includes Myers Tire Supply, Myers Tire Supply International and Patch Rubber.
