AdvantaPure, a division of NewAge Industries Inc., announced the availability of its BioClosure container closures in biopharmaceutical grade thermoplastic elastomer.

Previously the BioClosure container was offered only in platinum-cured silicone and the closures are used in pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory and other clean applications.

AdvantaPure said its TPE material, AdvantaFlex, provides an alternative to silicone because it offers lower absorption and adsorption characteristics than silicone and does not contain silicone oils, substances that are undesirable in some biological processes.

As tubing, AdvantaFlex provides weldability and helps eliminate the need for costly aseptic connectors. It's also heat sealable and offers excellent life in peristaltic pumps. Additionally, certain styles of BioClosures, whether TPE or silicone, may be molded with tubing of the same material, creating a leak-proof assembly with one validated material contact surface.

Other features include:

• Animal derived ingredient free.

• Will withstand autoclaving and gamma irradiation.

• Biologically safe.

• Reduction of cross contamination risks, cleaning requirements, and validation time and costs when used as Single-Use components.

Synchrono L.L.C. launched SyncAlert, a real-time notification and escalation software that enables manufacturing teams to quickly notify the right resource about problems and enable a rapid response, while tracking the results and minimizing costly downtime.

SyncAlert is an add-on designed to run in tandem with SyncOperations, a workflow engine and data historian for smart monitoring and synchronization, and SyncView software, a visual factory information system.

Features of SyncAlert include:

• Communicate alerts in real-time.

• Mobilize resources based on standard operating procedures.

• Automatically escalate issues; view resources assigned to the escalation and the status.

• Capture and export data including actual response time, escalation rates and machine-level problems.

SyncAlert software is part of the Synchrono Demand-Driven Manufacturing Platform.

Dow Corning Corp. expands construction offerings to include the market's only water-based 100 percent silicone air barrier system.

Evaluated by the Air Barrier Association of America, Dow Corning said its Silicone Air Barrier System is a suite of compatible high-performance silicone technologies designed to work together to better protect the entire building envelope and to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. The system has passed NFPA 285 and is NFPA Class A/UBC Class 1 per ASTM E84 and can be used on both new construction and building renovation projects.

The Dow Corning Silicone Air Barrier System includes:

• Dow Corning DefendAir 200: the only water-based 100 percent silicone liquid-applied air and water barrier on the market. The DefendAir 200 offers a one-coat spray or roller application — with primerless adhesion to most construction substrates — and dries to form a seamless, flexible membrane. It is vapor-permeable and breathable, exceeds industry requirements for airtight performance, has UV resistance and can be applied at temperatures as low as 20°F.

• Dow Corning Silicone Transition System: Featuring 100 percent silicone rubber strips and corners that are easy to install with silicone sealants (not mechanical fasteners), this system forms a continuous airtight transition at interfaces, including those that will experience large amounts of building movement.
