DARMSTADT, Germany—TrelleborgVibracoustic has developed a powerful hydro bush for heavy SUVs, which the company said has not been available for the SUV market previously.
The new component is used in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the firm said.
It said that hydraulic chassis bushings have been a standard component in passenger vehicle cassis for many years and feature an integrated damper system that increases driving comfort.
Until now, the company said, bushing stoppers were not robust enough to cope with the substantial loads of a heavy SUV.
TrelleborgVibracoustic's hydro bushings were developed for maximum loads. The key component of the product, the firm said, is a special hybrid stopper that can take loads of up to about 10 tons.
When the hydro bush is set in motion, fluid flows into the mount's interior via precisely defined channels, and the flow resistance generated by this dampens the vibrations introduced from outside.
