TAIPEI, Taiwan—Federal Corp. has named Jamie Ma chairman and general manager and appointed Shao-Jin Ma president.
The changes were disclosed at the firm's recent annual shareholder conference. Federal is marking its 60th year in business in 2015.
Jamie Ma has been with Federal since 1998 and advanced steadily up the executive ranks to become president in 2002 at age 28 and CEO two years later.
Shao-Jin Ma started with Federal in 1967.
With sales more of more than $300 million, Federal ranks among the 60 largest tire makers worldwide.
It was founded in 1954 by Chi-San Ma as a rubber products company and branched into tires in 1960 through a technical cooperation with Bridgestone Corp. that lasted until 1979. Federal then allied itself with Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. from 1981-2000 and has been independent since.
Federal acquired a second plant, in Nanchang, Jiangxi, China, in 1997, and recently disclosed it is building a third plant, in Taiwan, in the coming years.
Federal Corp.'s slogan for its 60th anniversary “It's Just the Beginning” reflects the company's ambitious goal: to glorify the company's fruitful heritage and guide Federal Group toward a more prosperous future, Jamie Ma said.
