MISSISSAUGA, Ontario—The Rubber Association of Canada will become the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada/L'Association canadienne du pneu et du caoutchouc if the RAC membership approves the change at the association's annual general meeting June 19, the RAC said.
When the RAC surveyed its members earlier this year about changing the association's name, 69 percent said they wanted to change the name to the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada, the RAC said in its May e-newsletter.
“This initiative is borne of the idea our association's name should more accurately reflect who we are and what we do,” the RAC said in the newsletter.
“The proposed name change adds to who we are—it does not take anything away,” the association said. “It is merely a better descriptor.”
The RAC is the second major association to announce a name change this year. On April 24, the former Automobile Aftermarket Industry Association became the Auto Care Association.
