KURIHARA, Japan—TG East Japan Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Japanese automotive supplier Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd., plans to install a new plant in Kurihara, Miyagi Prefecture, about 30 miles north of Sendai.
Its aim is to meet Toyota Motor's need to procure automotive components in the Tohoku region (northern part of Honshu—the main island). The new plant is scheduled to start operation in June 2015, to supply weather strips and airbags for Toyota Motor East Japan. Toyoda Gosei hopes the establishment of the new plant can also help the region to recover from damages caused by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami by offering jobs to local people.
TG East Japan was established in January 2013 as the headquarters of Toyoda Gosei's business operation in East Japan. The company will increase its capital from $186,508 to $4.81 million.
In April 2015 it will change its name to Toyoda Gosei East Japan Co. Ltd. and will incorporate the Iwate plant, which currently belongs to Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. These developments will help Toyoda Gosei to establish a firmer foothold and expand its automotive components business in East Japan.
Established in 1949 and headquartered in Kiyosu, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Toyoda Gosei is a manufacturer of rubber and plastics polymers and optical semiconductors. The company has a network of 94 plants and offices in 18 countries and regions.
