SHANGHAI—The Dow Chemical Co. showcased a number of products at Chinaplas 2014 from April 23-26 to help assist with the firm's growth in Asia.
The company will focus on durable elastomer products for the footwear segment, specifically sports shoes, sandals and boots.
Dow said it is expanding its Infuse line of olefin block copolymers offering for sports shoes manufacturers. The firm said Infuse helps improve rebound, compression set, comfort and dimensional stability while maintaining or even decreasing overall shoe weight.
The company said there is a growing trend toward fitness, which is driving demand for athletic shoes with higher performance midsoles. Dow said midsoles dictate the life of the shoe, including its durability and the quality of the athlete's ride.
“With the broadest range of product and material science capabilities, Dow enables partners to offer lightweight footwear with excellent comfort, superior durability and lasting value in the competitive sports shoe market,” said Andrew Yen, market manager, Asia Pacific.
Dow is a global specialty chemical, advanced materials, agrosciences and plastics company. It delivers products to customers in about 180 countries in the sectors such as packaging, electronics, water, coatings and agricultures. The firm reported 2013 sales of $57 billion and employs 53,000 worldwide with more than 6,000 products manufactured at 201 production sites.
