MUNICH, Germany—German car maker BMW A.G. has selected Hankook Tire Co. Ltd.'s Ventus S1 evo2 as an original equipment fitment for the 2015 BMW 4-Series Coupe.
The coupe, the first four-door coupe in BMW's premium midsize class and third model in the 4 Series, will be factory equipped with the Ventus in size 225/50R17 W.
Hankook did not say which specific model or models its tires will be fitted on.
It will be the sixth BMW model fitted with Hankook tires, following the Mini, the BMW 1, 3 and 5 Series as well as the X5, Hankook said.
“We are pleased to continuously intensify our cooperation with the BMW Group,” said Seung Hwa Suh, vice chairman and CEO of Hankook Tire.
“Supplying tires to the new 4-Series Coupé marks yet another, important milestone for us as it is the first time we are supplying tires to the BMW Group that not only have been developed in Europe but also are supplied directly from our European plant.”
BMW offers a choice of five engines for the 4-Series Coupe: a six-cylinder in-line three-liter petrol engine delivering 306 horsepower in the 435i; four-cylinder in-line engines offering 245 horsepower and 184 horsepower, respectively, in the 428i Gran Coupe and 420i Gran Coupe; a four-cylinder diesel delivering 184 horsepower in the 420d Gran Coupe; and a four-cylinder diesel offering 143 horsepower in the 418d Gran Coupe.
Hankook said it will supply tires to BMW from its plant in Racalmas, Hungary.
