TOKYO—Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., in a joint effort with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, said it has succeeded in simulating acoustics around a rolling tire.
The firm said it simulated turbulence around a tire rolling on a road surface and the noise generated from these structures. Yokohama said the results open up potential for technological breakthroughs that could lead to the reduction of pass-by noise and improvement of aerodynamic performance.
Yokohama said it will continue to support further research in these areas.
