Auburn Manufacturing Inc. has introduced its Ever Green Chill-In Insulation Kits, a removable/reusable insulation kit system for components on chilled water or dual temperature systems where vapor condensation control is a primary consideration.

Auburn Manufacturing said the Ever Green Chill-In vapor sealed insulation blanket system is a quick and easy solution for combating condensation, corrosion and energy waste by preventing surface condensation when used on a 42-degree chilled water line up to a relative humidity range of 85 to 90 percent.

Components are being left bare because of their convoluted shapes and the need for access during periodic maintenance and inspection, but the Chill-In blanket systems are designed to be removable and reusable after installation.

Chill-In R/R kits are rated in the Min/Max 32 degrees, F/250 degrees F range, Auburn Manufacturing said, and contains: a quilted 4-by-8 foot modularized, flexible, insulated blanket with a zero-perm vapor retarder; a 75-foot roll of 4 inch wide zero-perm pressure sensitive tape; a 3 fluid-ounce tube of silicone caulk; and a utility knife.

DeWAL Industries Inc. has released a free swatchbook for engineers with samples of submersible pump PTFE and FEP tapes specifically for downhole construction and repair.

DeWal said the swatchbook breaks down films and tapes into PTFE binder films (DW202 and DW502) used in the construction of electrical cables for submersible pumps and FEP tapes (DW 704-2 and DW706-2), which are optically clear tapes coated with DeWAL's high temperature silicone adhesive, used for repairing and splicing downhole electrical cables.

A sample of DeWAL's DW245-5, a PTFE tape that has a high temperature acrylic adhesive with a service temperature up to 400°F, is also available in the swatchbook.

DeWAL said swatchbooks for other fields soon will be available.

Z-laser GmbH has launched its movable line laser system Z-mills at Tire Technology Expo in Cologne, Germany.

Z-laser said the name Z-mills is the acronym for the first letters; it is a special development for tire building machines. The laser system is mounted above the tire building machine and the laser lines are used for fast and precise material placement.

The housing and electronics are newly developed, along with proven laser and spindle technology the result is a comparatively light system, Z-laser said. On a maintenance-free linear spindle axle, one laser module is fixed in the middle, two outer module slides are rapidly moving parallel, with up to 300mm per second.

The perfectly-parallel aligned laser beams are for tires with up to 76cm width in the standard version, with a focus range from 120 to 2500mm.

Z-laser said the system is controlled via RS-485 or USB, and the lasers also can be moved by portable devices with Wi-Fi. Special requirements for installing the system or variable laser assembly (red, green or blue with 30° or 90° fan angle) are available upon request. For details, go to www.z-laser.com.

Master Bond Inc. has released a non-drip, one component silicone that offers high temperature resistance, thermal conductivity and electrical isolation.

The Master Bond MasterSil 705TC features a paste consistency that does not require mixing, Master Bond said, and can set up in seven minutes and has a non-corrosive cure at room temperature when exposed to atmospheric humidity.

Suitable for a variety of bonding, sealing and coating applications, MasterSil 705TC delivers supreme thermal conductivity, Master Bond said, and retains its electrical insulation properties. This system can also withstand temperatures ranging from -60°F to 400°F. It adheres well to metals, composites and many plastics.

As a silicone based system, MasterSil 705TC is flexible, the company said.

Cabot Corp. has launched two Propel carbon black products for tire applications, the Propel E7 and Propel D11.

Cabot said the Propel E7 carbon black is engineered to reduce tire rolling resistance and improve vehicle fuel economy, while the Propel D11 carbon black is designed to provide a high level of tread durability and is well suited for use in both short-haul truck and off-the-road vehicle tires.

Features include:

• Fuel efficiency—Cabot said that tests of Propel E7 carbon black demonstrate that the product reduces the energy loss of typical tire tread compounds by 15 percent when compared to the same laboratory tests of Cabot Vulcan 7H carbon black, enabling reductions in tire rolling resistance. Primary applications for this product are on-highway, long-haul truck tire treads and retreads.

• Higher durability—The high level of rubber reinforcement in the Propel D11 enables tire treads that resist cutting, tearing and abrasion, and extend the useful life of a tire, the company claims. Cabot laboratory tests of Propel D11 carbon black demonstrate a 10 percent improvement in laboratory abrasion resistance in natural rubber compounds when compared to the same laboratory tests of Cabot Vulcan 10H carbon black, Cabot said. Primary applications for this product are short-haul truck and off-the-road vehicles tire treads. It also can be used in passenger car and light truck tire treads that require maximum durability.
