EAST LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Rubber Group will hold its annual Focus on Ferris Open House on March 19 at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.
The ACS Rubber Division course, "Introduction to Rubber Processing" will be offered to students and others in the industry to help with career decision.
The course will examine the effects that certain compounding ingredients have on the processing and mixing of a rubber compound. The course objectives are to provide an overview of steps involved in the processing of a rubber compound, provide an understanding of basic rubber processing tests, troubleshoot common problems associated with processing elastomers, and provide one-on-one opportunities for students and contacts.
The instructor will be William Stahl of Rainbow Mastermixing. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $425 for a Rubber Division member and $500 for a non-member.
The Rubber Division provides the course free for full-time students; students must email proof of the current semester class schedule to [email protected]

After the course, the Michigan Rubber Group will conduct its annual open house of the National Elastomer Center. Attendees may meet and talk with students as well as during the social hour and dinner at the Holiday Inn, where officials from the Michigan Rubber Group, Rubber Division and the Ferris State Rubber and Plastics Technology Staff will talk.
