WASHINGTON—Qingdao Xiyingmen Double Camel Tyre Co. Ltd. and its U.S. agent, Lionshead Specialty Tire & Wheel L.L.C., have voluntarily recalled 1,440 Vail Sport ST LH 99 tubeless trailer tires.
The recalled tires are size 225/75D15, load range D, DOT Code 69, and were manufactured by Double Camel at its Qingdao, China, facility between July 14 and July 27, 2013, Double Camel told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Double Camel decided to recall the tires after two from that lot failed NHTSA testing, the company said. One tire failed the endurance test, and the other failed the plunger test, it said.
Based on those tests, Double Camel concluded that batch of tires may fail under prolonged use and become unseated from the rim.
Double Camel has not yet provided a notification schedule for tire owners, NHTSA said. However, Double Camel customers may call Lionshead at 574-533-6169.
