MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Longtime rubber industry executive James J. McCarthy died on Feb. 6. He was 84.
McCarthy held positions at Firestone in Vicksburg, Miss., and the C.P. Hall Co. (now Hallstar) in Chicago before becoming the founder of ChemRep Inc. in 1977.
He retired from the industry in 1992 and spent several years in Pensacola Beach, Fla., and later in Memphis, Tenn.
McCarthy was a past president of the Chicago Rubber Group, the Wisconsin Rubber Group and the Fort Wayne Rubber Group.
ChemRep said he will be remembered for his constant smile and positive attitude.
