WASHINGTON—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has scheduled a Feb. 24 "public listening session" at its headquarters to discuss its 2014-18 strategic plan and solicit public comment on the plan.
"Public feedback will assist the agency in preparing to meet the challenges it faces in the next five years on improving motor vehicle and traffic safety in the United States," NHTSA said in a Feb. 4 Federal Register notice.
NHTSA said it welcomed comments from all individuals and organizations interested in the agency's activities. Those activities include motor vehicle and highway safety as well as consumer programs on such issues as tire performance, fuel economy, vehicle theft and odometer fraud.
The session will begin at 8:30 a.m. EST and is scheduled to end at 5 p.m., though it may end earlier if all interested parties have had a chance to comment, NHTSA said.
After a brief overview, NHTSA officials will yield the floor to interested parties, each of whom will have 10 minutes to present comments on the strategic plan and its various aspects.
Those who wish to comment in person at the meeting must pre-register by emailing their names, organizations and contact information to [email protected] by Feb. 19. Those who wish to submit written comments to NHTSA must do so by the day of the meeting.
