STOCKHOLM—Trelleborg Marine Systems has been awarded a contract to produce and supply more than 100 SeaGuard polyurethane elastomer foam fenders to Brunei Shell's Kuala Belait supply base wharf, located in the nation of Brunei, on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in Southeast Asia.
The fenders are part of a wharf upgrade project, headed up by Brunei contractor Waqi Sdn Bhd.
As part of the upgrade, Trelleborg Marine will supply about 93 fenders to span six berthing spaces, covering the length of the 325-meter wharf. The company also will supply an additional 21 fenders as spares, it said, putting the contract at 114 fenders.
Trelleborg Marine previously was awarded the largest foam fender contract ever, the firm claimed, delivering over 700 SeaGuard fenders and accessories to the Port of Marseille.
It said low maintenance is required of the fenders because the polyurethane elastomer is highly resistant to the effects of ozone and ultra violet light.
