INDIANAPOLIS—Basic Rubber & Plastics Co. is now a member of the Association for Rubber Products Manufacturers. The move was effective at the end of 2013.
Basic Rubber is a short-run rubber parts manufacturer located northwest of Detroit. It has worked with general business associations over the years, but according to the ARPM, the company wanted to become affiliated with a rubber industry organization.
Basic Rubber President David Smith said the firm's experience at a recent ARPM tour of Eagle Elastomer Inc. in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio played a big roll in its decisions to join.
"Our company decided over time to join a group specific to what we do," Smith said. "We wanted to get in and network with people that do the same exact thing that we do, which is rubber manufacturing."
ARPM consists of more than 50 members and is managed by rubber business leaders.
