AKRON—Goodyear has published the 20th edition of its Goodyear Aviation Tire Calendar.
"Over the last two decades, the Goodyear Aviation Tire Calendar has become a sought-after collectible among aviation enthusiasts," said Bert Aertssen, general manager of global aviation for Goodyear.
Each edition of the Goodyear Aviation Tire Calendar features an aircraft of historical significance, according to Goodyear.
The Akron-based tire manufacturer said the 2014 Goodyear Aviation Tire Calendar has an image of the NC21104, a 1938 Stinson SR-10 that was manufactured for Shell Oil Co. and was flown by its vice president and famous aeronautics pioneer, Jimmy Doolittle, prior to his service during World War II.
The four-passenger, one-crew plane features a unique "Gull" wing design, Goodyear said, and is powered by a 260-horsepower engine. Stinson produced the SR-10 from 1938 until the beginning of World War II.
"Goodyear has been an aviation industry leader since the industry's earliest days, with more than 100 years of experience serving the industry with leading products and services, and industry-leading expertise," Aertssen said.
"In line with that tradition, it is only fitting that our 2014 Aviation Tire Calendar features such an important aircraft. We hope that the aviation industry and collectors will enjoy the calendar as much as we enjoy presenting it."
