WASHINGTON—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is requesting comment on the impact of tire and motor vehicle safety regulations on small business, as required by the Regulatory Flexibility Act.
The law requires all federal agencies to conduct periodic reviews of all final rules that have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small businesses, NHTSA said in a Dec. 17 Federal Register notice.
NHTSA issued a 10-year review plan in November 2008, giving the schedule for review of each group of agency regulations. The plan alternates between analysis and review years, the agency said.
This is Year 6 of the 10-year plan, NHTSA said, and more than 30 agency regulations will be reviewed this year, including standards for tire identification and record-keeping, regrooved tires and rule-making procedures.
The agency asks small businesses and not-for-profit organizations to submit comments on the regulations listed in the notice, as to whether any of the regulations have a significant impact on them, the extent of the impact and why the regulation has an impact.
Feb. 18, 2014 is the deadline for comments.
