MUNICH—Wacker Group has expanded the range of services it provides at its Singapore technical center.
The firm is making a $541,800 investment in the expansion.
The service and research and development center in the Southeast Asian sales hub will provide technical support for customers in the consumer and personal care industry. It will also provide services to customers in the paper coating and plastics processing industry.
The group is responding to a growing demand for silicone products and the emerging needs of regional customers for technical support and expertise.
Wacker's 6,000-sq.-ft. technical center in Singapore opened in 2007. The company's labs test and develop dispersible polymer powders and dispersions as well as silicone emulsions, silicone resins and antifoam agents for customers throughout Southeast Asia.
The latest investment will benefit labs run by the Performance Chemicals and Construction Chemicals business teams within Wacker Silicones. The labs can test cosmetic products, shampoos and polishes formulated with silicone fluids or emulsions.
