DES MOINES, Iowa—Titan Tire Corp. raised $38,760 recently for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) through the donation of 74 tires at the 2013 Husker Harvest Days event, held Sept. 10-12 in Grand Island, Neb.
The tires, valued at more than $120,000, according to Titan, were some of the hundreds of farm tires donated by Titan each year for auctions that benefit local chapters of the FFA.
"We take great pride in supporting the FFA and helping to benefit the next generation of growers," said Scott Sloan, agricultural product manager for Titan Tire. "We've been doing this very successfully for years at Farm Progress and Sunbelt Ag Expo, and it's great to see that the event went off without a hitch at our first year doing it in Nebraska."
In addition to tire auctions, Titan also offers an antique tractor restoration program for students and FFA members that take on the challenging task of restoring antique tractors. In 2012, the company donated more than 1,000 tires to student FFA members and 264 tires valued at more than $250,000 to local FFA auctions, it said.
