WASHINGTON—Yokohama Tire Corp. is recalling 1,192 truck tires that are marked 7.50R16 LRF (12 Ply) RY215 because they lack some of the sidewall markings required by federal truck tire safety standards.
The tires in question were manufactured in Japan between Jan. 1, 2006 and Jan. 1, 2011, Yokohama told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
They have incomplete vehicle identification numbers, because the "DOT" prefix is missing, Yokohama said. They also lack required load/inflation markings and do not indicate the material or number of structural plies.
Yokohama will begin notifying tire dealers and owners shortly and replace the tires free of charge. Owners may call Yokohama at 800-423-4544.
