PRAGUE—CODA Development S.r.o., a Czech technology developer, is offering to license its patented SIT Self Inflating Tire technology and offer technical support to "all tire manufacturers interested in future-oriented automotive products."
CODA Development claims the SIT concept, which uses peristaltic action to keep a tire inflated optimally, is patent protected in the U.S. and Czech and Slovak Republics. Patent applications are pending in the European Union and in a dozen more countries, CODA said, including Japan, South Korea, India and China.
CODA describes SIT is an integrated, fully automatic tire pressure maintenance system that uses the energy of the wheel to keep the tire optimally inflated. The system integrates a peristaltic tube chamber into the tire wall, which inflates the tire to its optimal air pressure only when needed.
When a vehicle equipped with SIT tires is put in motion, underinflated tires automatically will re-inflate to their optimal operation pressure, CODA said, which the system constantly maintains while the tires are in use.
Maintaining optimal inflation enhances driving safety, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and prolongs tire life, CODA said.
CODA Development was founded in 2006 by Frantisek Hrabel to bring innovative ideas to life. The SIT patent portfolio consists of more than 30 patent related documents covering 50 countries of the world, CODA claims More information available here.
