PITTSBURGH—Lanxess A.G. extended its long-term agreement with NOVA Chemicals Corp. to supply crude C4 as a raw material for Lanxess' North American facility in Sarnia, Ontario.
The firm did not disclose financial details.
NOVA's facilities in Joffre, Alberta and Corunna, Ontario will supply the C4 Sarnia site.
Crude C4 is a gaseous mixture of C4 olefins produced in steam crackers during the process of cracking naphtha. It is mainly used for production of butadiene by extraction.
Joachim Grub, Lanxess' head of business unit performance butadiene rubbers, said the contract provides security to customers in North America.
