WINDSOR, Ontario—A University of Windsor law student has launched a rubber wristband sales campaign, with half of the proceeds going to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Aaron Lewicki decided to start selling the bands commemorating the University of Windsor's 50th anniversary after finding out that the silicone rubber wristbands weren't available in the university's bookstore.
"My mother has always been a big supporter of the organization, and since her mom passed away from breast cancer in 1987, it seemed like the perfect fit," Lewicki said.
At first, Lewicki thought he'd sell the rubber wristbands on a small scale, but after receiving a large volume of positive feedback from university administrators, he decided to make the wristbands available to all students, staff, faculty and alumni at the bookstore.
"I also contacted the breast cancer foundation, and they were very excited to hear about my initiative, and they look forward to working with the university on future projects," Lewicki said.
