SEOUL, South Korea—South Korean's Kumho Tire Co. Inc. is expanding its partnership with Daimler A.G. by supplying its Solus KL21 touring tire as the original equipment fitment on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class Guard.
The G-Class is a four-wheel-drive vehicle produced in Austria and is characterized by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction, Kumho said. It uses three fully locking differentials and meets VR6 and VR7 ballistics resistance standards, the highest possible classifications.
Kumho began supplying Solus KL21 tires in size 265/60R18 for fitment on the G-Class Guard in September, the company said..
The Solus KL21 is manufactured at Kumho's plant in Vietnam and is available in sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches in rim diameter. It features a symmetric tread pattern, which Kumho said is optimized for low-rolling resistance, while the tread compound is designed to improve mileage and traction.
