TOKYO—Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. said it will build a pneumatic marine fender and marine hose factory in Batam Island, Indonesia, a project that will cost $30.5 million.
The company said the facility for material mixing, molding and vulcanization will open in June 2015. Yokohama operates a plant in Japan that makes the marine products, and when the Batam site is completed, the firm's total manufacturing capacity will grow substantially.
Yokohama's pneumatic marine fenders and marine hoses are used primarily in the handling and transferring of crude oil at sea.
