PLYMOUTH, Mich.—Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies' Simrit division supplied sealing components to the new Bombardier CSeries aircraft that completed its first test flight Sept. 26.
“From the airframe to the engine propulsion systems, Bombardier's CSeries aircraft represents some of the most advanced technology, and we're honored to have contributed to the aircraft's successful first flight,” said Vinay Nilkanth, vice president of global sales, aerospace, Freudenberg-NOK.
Freudenberg-NOK said it used its low-density silicone to reduce the weight of its sealing component, thereby contributing to the aircraft's overall fuel efficiency, while the company's low-friction radial shaft seals decrease the loss of available power.
The company said its O-rings provide increased compatibility with advanced fluids, such as low-density phosphate ester fluids and high temperature synthetic oils.
