MIDLAND, Mich.—Dow Corning Corp. has released a high consistency silicone rubber that it said offers more flexibility when used in fabricated automotive components.
The product, called Silastic HCM 60-1225-Gray silicone rubber, has superior fatigue resistance in extreme heat and cold, the company said. It has high tensile strength along with a temperature range from -40 to 200°C. It has fast cure times at elevated temperatures, with high throughput without post-curing.
Applications include CVJ boots, exhaust hangers, engine mounts, steering system boots and mounts for NVH control.
