TOKYO—Cars equipped with Advan racing tires made by the Yokohama Rubber Co. have won the overall championship at the 12-hour Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race 2013, held recently.
This marks the third consecutive year that a car with Yokohama tires has won the race, according to the tire maker.
Yokohama said the course is known for its extremely high road surface temperature, and that “superior wear resistance limited grip loss over the long race,” of the tires made “a big contribution to the victory.”
The winning No. 7 car was a “Clearwater Racing” Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, driven by Mok Weng Sun, Craig Baird and Hiroshi Hamaguchi.
The Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race has been held since 2000 as part of celebrations commemorating Malaysia's Independence Day.
