TOKYO—Asahi Kasei Corp. is planning a polycarbonate polyol plant in Nantong, China that will have the capacity to produce 3,000 tons per year.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for early 2014, the company said, and when complete in early 2015, the plant will match existing capacity at a location in Japan.
The Nantong site is owned by two Asahi subsidiaries: Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp., 62 percent; and Asahi Kasei (China) Co., Ltd., 38 percent. The unspecified investment will be funded through Asahi Kasei (China), said Asahi.
