FAIRLAWN, Ohio—Omnova Solutions Inc. may be leaving the Akron suburb of Fairlawn, Ohio, for the Cleveland suburb of Beachwood.
Sandi Noah, vice president of communications for the polymer developer and provider, released a prepared statement by email on Aug. 12, saying the company is considering building a headquarters in Beachwood after two years of extensive analysis.
"Because our plans remain subject to various approvals at the local level, however, we continue to consider other possible locations in Northeast Ohio," the Omnova email said.
Noah said she would not provide details on the company's possible move until it has a final agreement.
Omnova said its lease at 175 Ghent Road, where 140 employees work, expires in late 2014.
Omnova noted it continues to have a strong commitment and presence to the Akron area, where it recently spent $9 million to update its Global Technology Center in Akron and its plants in Akron and Mogadore.
Online real estate data provider CoStar said Omnova's current building dates from 1982, and it handles all operating responsibilities for the structure, but does not identify the building's owner.
The company describes itself as a global provider of emulsion polymers, specialty chemicals and decorative and functional surfaces.
