BARBERTON, Ohio—GSDI, a subsidiary of PolyOne Corp. and a producer of dispersions for silicone rubber, has launched Silcosperse 500 dispersion.
According to the company, the product increases the heat stability of high consistency silicone formulations to withstand temperatures up to 500°F, improving suitability for applications in the automotive, aerospace and appliances industries. Examples include seals, covers, insulators, gaskets and O-rings.
Tests show no compromise in processability and thermal performance, compared to traditional rare earth element-based technologies, the company said. The product is supplied as a millable dispersion gum to eliminate problems associated with messy, hard-to-handle alternatives. It is available in quantities as low as 10 pounds to allow for smaller volume, niche applications and inventory optimization.
