PIQUA, Ohio—French Oil Mill Machinery Co. has added a CNC lathe to its facility in Piqua to increase its manufacturing capabilities.
Measuring 80 inches wide, the automated turning center is 30 inches larger than the firm's previous machine. It also contains updated programming, which allows French Oil Mill to produce higher quality parts with newer cutting accuracy and superior surface finishes, the firm said.
French Oil designs, manufactures and supports hydraulic presses.
"We can make larger parts within the lathe now that we couldn't have done before," said Tayte French-Lutz, marketing director at French Oil Mill. "The technology of the lathe is superior than what we had before, which is an enhancement of the production system."
The lathe has been set up and in production for about two months. The company did not disclose the cost of the machine.
"We were able to move another machine adjacent to it so one operator can now operate and manage both machines," French-Lutz said. "The lathe makes better parts, faster, reducing our operator time to run it."
