NASHVILLE, Tenn.― Bridgestone Americas has hired Stuart Crum, president of Jiffy Lube International Inc., to become president of Bridgestone Retail Operations, filling a position vacated last November by Matt Hoskins.
Crum brings nearly 30 years of experience in automotive retail to the job, Bridgestone said. His appointment is effective Aug. 15.
He has been president of Jiffy Lube, a Shell Oil Co. subsidiary, since May 2011, and has been with Shell since 2003. In his Jiffy Lube role, Crum was responsible for more than 2,100 franchised service centers throughout North America, serving approximately 22 million customers annually.
Crum held roles of increasing responsibility within Shell, including vice president of national accounts North American automotive consumer products; general manager strategy and portfolio North America; general manager sales and operations Caribbean, Central America, Northern South America; and director of marketing.
Crum takes over a business unit on target to hit more than 2,250 locations nationwide by year-end. The unit generates nearly $4 billion in annual sales, according to Tire Business estimates.
Bridgestone did not disclose the circumstances of Hoskins' leaving the company. He was named president of the unit in January 2011, succeeding Larry Magee.
Crum earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Tulsa, where he attended on a full football scholarship from 1978-82 before spending three years as a place-kicker in the National Football League and U.S. Football League, Bridgestone said.
