KOMAKI CITY, Japan—Tokai Rubber Industries Ltd. said it has completed its purchase of Brazil's Produflex Minas Industria de Borrachas Ltda.
This marks Tokai Rubber's second acquisition of automotive anti-vibration rubber manufacturers, following the acquisition of Anvis Group GmbH in Germany, which was completed in May 2013.
According to Tokai, its anti-vibration business now expands into 18 countries with this acquisition.
Tokai said its Produflex MG acquisition was made indirectly through its existing subsidiary Tokai Rubber do Brasil Serviços Ltda.
The firm said this acquisition enhances its production capability for Japanese automotive customers, as well as its product development and marketing capabilities for European customers who have large market shares in South America.
After acquiring Dytech—Dynamic Fluid Technologies S.p.A., an Italy based automotive hose manufacturer in February 2013—Tokai said its global production network is complete in both the automotive anti-vibration systems and automotive hose business.
The company said it will focus on non-Japanese automotive customers, part of its goals as prioritized in its mid-term management plan "2015 TRI Group Vision," as well as expand sales to Japanese customers.
