HACKENSACK, N.J.—Master Bond Inc. has released a two-component epoxy system that can be used in bonding, sealing, coating and casting applications where strength and clarity are required.
The company said the epoxy, EP30HV, can be used in applications in the computer, aerospace, automotive, optical, fiber optic, medical and chemical industries, and that it complies with FDA Chapter 1, Sections 175.105 for food applications.
Master Bond claims that EP30HV offers high light transmittance and enhanced electrical and thermal insulation properties. The compound cures at room temperature in 24 hours or faster at elevated temperatures, and it produces a tensile strength exceeding 9,000 pounds per square inch and a compressive strength greater than 14,000 psi. The company said it resists a variety of chemicals including water, oils, acids, bases and solvents, and bonds to metals, glass, ceramics, wood, rubbers, and many plastics.
It is available for use in pint, quart, gallon and five-gallon container kits and has a shelf life of up to one year if stored in its original, unopened containers.
