EXTON, Pa.—Two new lines of fluoroelastomers can benefit molded and extruded components used in extreme conditions such as heat, steam and corrosive materials, according to the manufacturer, AGC Chemicals Americas Inc.
The Aflas 100 and 150 series are copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene, the company said, a combination that uses unique properties not found in conventional fluoroelastomers.
Aflas products, used in wire and cable coatings, engine seals, gaskets and other high-endurance components in a variety of industries, provide flexibility and toughness when used with polymer products and molded parts, the company claims. They have been used in engine components of cars and heavy-duty vehicles and in seals for pumps in wells and oil and gas systems.
