BRUSSELS, Belgium—Solvay S.A. has met the June 1 deadline for registering 161 chemical substances, meeting the requirements set forth in the European Union's mandatory REACH program for chemicals produced at a rate of 100 tons per year or more.
"With the completion of this second phase, we can now provide our customers with exhaustive data enabling them to use our products under the best possible conditions," said Solvay Industrial Director Gerard Collette.
"REACH represents a fantastic opportunity to give new impetus to our innovation, to substitute some of our products and to orient our business activities towards a more sustainable type of chemistry," he said.
Solvay has moved on to the third REACH registration phase, which involves around 400 chemical substances manufactured or imported in quantities between 1 and 100 tons per year. The deadline for compliance is June 2018.
