LAKE FOREST, Ill.—Facilities operated by automotive supplier Tenneco Inc. in Gliwice, Poland, and Ligonier, Ind., have been selected as winners of 2012 Ford Motor Co. World Excellence Awards.
At an awards ceremony last week, Ford said Tenneco's Gliwice Ride Performance plant won a Gold Award in the category of shock absorbers, while its Clean Air plant in Ligonier picked up a Recognition of Achievement Award for warranty improvement.
"Ford's partnership with our suppliers played a pivotal role in the progress we made on the One Ford plan in 2012," said Tony Brown, Ford group vice president, global purchasing. "Our World Excellence Award winners have shown a dedication to excellence. Thank you for helping Ford serve customers with the best vehicles in the world."
Gregg Sherrill, Tenneco chairman and CEO, said the company "is committed to delivering the highest quality clean air and ride performance products and services to our global customers and will continue to set the highest standards at all 89 of our manufacturing facilities around the world."
Ford's Gold Award is presented to top suppliers in recognition of their manufacturing sites that consistently demonstrate superior quality, delivery and cost performance. To be considered, suppliers must rank in the top 5 percent of qualified suppliers.
The Recognition of Achievement award is given by the auto maker to suppliers that have made significant contributions in certain key areas during the year.
Lake Forest-based Tenneco designs, manufactures and markets clean air and ride performance products and systems for automotive and commercial vehicle original equipment markets and the aftermarket under the principal brand names Monroe, Walker, XNOx and CleviteElastomer.
