BANGKOK—Apollo Tyres Ltd. said it has opened a sales office in Bangkok, with Thailand as its hub of operations.
The company, India's top tire maker, said this marks its second hub outside of the company's operations in India, the Netherlands and South Africa. A hub in Dubai serves the Middle East region.
The Southeast Asian region is one of Apollo's strongest export markets, accounting for more than 40 percent of export revenue, according to the company, doubling over the last three years. The tires are manufactured at one of Apollo's four plants in India, including a state-of-the-art automated facility in the southern city of Chennai. The company projects exports out of India to grow at a double digit rate over the next few years.
Satish Sharma, a company official, said Apollo currently is in the second phase of its expansion, and that the new Bangkok office would serve "as a hub for an active sales and service team."
