SAN DIEGO—Boeing Co. has presented the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. with a Supplier of the Year award for its "exceptional performance and contributions to Boeing's overall success during 2012."
Goodyear is among 16 companies and one university to receive an award from the aircraft manufacturer during an April 18 ceremony at the San Diego Convention Center, according to Goodyear. The Akron-based tire maker said it was selected from a pool of more than 23,000 Boeing suppliers from around the world.
The winning suppliers are selected based on statistical measurements of quality, on-time delivery, post-delivery support, cost and the ability to anticipate and respond to changing customer requirements, according to Boeing.
"In today's challenging business environment, an agile supply chain that continuously delivers excellent performance is critical," said Jack House, vice president of supplier management for Boeing Defense, Space & Security and leader of the firm's Supplier Management program. "The suppliers receiving Supplier of the Year awards have demonstrated outstanding commitment to providing our customers with the best-value, highest-quality products and services, while meeting the customers' requirements and anticipating their needs for the future."
Pierre Jambon, vice president, Off-Highway Tires for Goodyear, called Boeing "a valued Goodyear customer for many years."
