CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa.—Ipeg Inc. has acquired Republic Machine, a Louisville, Ky., firm that designs and manufactures single-shaft shredding machinery in North America.
Ipeg, the parent company of Rapid Granulator; AB; Bredaryd, Sweden; and the Conair Group, made the announcement April 15.
According to Ipeg Chief Operating Officer Chris Keller, Ipeg intends to operate the company as a division of Rapid Granulator, maintaining the Republic Machine brand and retaining Republic's management. Republic shredders will be sold in North America through existing Republic distribution channels and globally through Rapid and Conair.
Republic sells single-shaft shredders used in a wide range of size-reduction and recycling applications involving plastic, wood, carpeting, rubber and medical waste. The company was founded in 1911 and sold in 1970 to its current owners, who expanded the firm to four companies that employ more than 250.
