BOWIE, Md.—The Tire Industry Association has issued its new Basic Farm Tire Service training program.
The plan covers the minimum skills and safety guidelines for servicing farm, agricultural and construction tires, TIA said.
The 11-module program gives technicians step-by-step procedures for demounting, mounting and inflating single-piece tubeless and tube-type assemblies, as well as three-piece tires and rims. The program also includes the steps for removing and installing dual assemblies.
Technicians who successfully complete Basic FTS will receive a TIA Certificate of Completion, according to the association.
The price for the Basic Farm Tire Service kit is $295 for TIA members, $600 for non-members. The kit includes the Instructor's Guide, an instructional DVD and one student workbook. Additional workbooks are available for $55 each for members, $85 each for non-members, and additional tests are available for $30 each for members, $60 for non-members.
Basic Farm Tire Service also will be available at TIA's Online University within the next few months, the association said.
