ALSIP, Ill.—Kastalon Inc., which Robert DeMent started in 1963 in borrowed space the size of a one-car garage, mixing material in coffee cans, celebrated 50 years of operation March 13.
The manufacturer of polyurethane components today conducts business from a 50,000-sq.-ft. factory with state-of-the-art mixing and molding equipment, Kastalon said. The Chicago area business is owned by Robert DeMent's sons, Bruce—who is president—and Mike DeMent.
The DeMent brothers said the business has succeeded because of the creativity, energy and imagination of its employees. The firm designs, engineers and makes polyurethane components for a very diverse number of industry, such as steel and metals manufacturing, heavy equipment, military, aerospace, materials handling, industrial machinery, food, mining, appliances and building materials.
