LEVERKUSEN, Germany—Lanxess A.G. said it temporarily will close its EPDM plant in Orange, Texas, and a butyl rubber facility near Antwerp, Belgium, because of weak demand.
The Orange factory will be off line for four weeks, and the Antwerp facility four to six weeks, a company official said. The shutdowns will begin within the next few weeks.
Lanxess said soft demand in the tire and automotive markets prompted its decision. The company expects demand to pick up during the year.
