HANOVER, Germany—ContiTech A.G.'s Vibration Control business has opened a research and development center in Changshu, China, to support automotive manufacturers in the region.
The center will develop products for vehicle mounting and vibration control technology, working in close collaboration with General Motors, Geely, Great Wall Motor Co., Shanghai Volkswagen and Qoros, a spokesman said.
ContiTech is investing about $10.4 million in the center, which will employ about 30.
An order for engine mounts from auto maker Qoros was the deciding factor in moving ahead with the project to expand the company's R&D competencies in Asia, ContiTech said.
